Linda Busse was born in Muskegon, Michigan where she started drawing at a young age. Her family moved toYuma, Arizona where, as Linda Rowe, she rode bareback on her first riding instructor’s roping horses. She rode western, then Hunt Seat, and finally started jumping a Thoroughbred off the race track by the name of Foxfire. On Foxfire she won the Arizona State Championship for Green Working Hunter, also placing in Open Working Hunter, Hunter Under Saddle, and Junior English Rider in the state finals. During this time Linda also won 2 State Gold Key Awards in Art.
Her family then moved to Montague, Michigan. In college at Grand Valley State, she studied Art, as well as Elementary Education. In her free time she was a riding instructor, a 4-H leader, and judged at area horse shows.
Upon graduating from college, she taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade in Montague, Michigan. She taught there until retirement in 2000. During her teaching years, she rode competitive trail horses.
Linda is now riding Dressage on her ½ Thoroughbred, ½ Morgan, named Shadow Hawk. In the year 2003, the pair earned their Bronze and Silver Certificates of Merit at Training Level, the Novice Horse Championship, the Senior Novice Rider Championship, and the Senior Novice Rider High Percentage Championship at Training Level, from the All Dressage Association. In 2005 the pair won the Musical Freestyle Championship.
Besides her plans to make a full line of horse stamps, Linda is also doing animal portraits for people wishing to have a special remembrance of their pets. Portraits start at $85. Please visit the Portrait Gallery to see some of her portraits.
